Inez Stewart is an accomplished and influential leader in human resources and change management, with over 25 years of experience across diverse industries. As Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), she plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s human capital and workforce strategy, while fostering a culture of excellence.
Since joining JHM in December 2016, Inez has been instrumental in partnering with executive leaders to advance strategic priorities. Her focus on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent ensures the continued delivery of the highest quality patient care. With a proven track record in organizational restructuring, she has successfully led complex transformations to enhance operational effectiveness and sharpen strategic focus.
Inez leads enterprise-wide executive succession planning and conducts comprehensive talent assessments to secure leadership continuity. She has also implemented strategic workforce planning initiatives to proactively address labor shortages and identify the evolving competencies needed to meet the future demands of organizations.
Before joining JHM, Inez held senior leadership positions at Boston Children’s Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, and prominent corporations including Polaroid Corporation, Arthur D. Little Inc., and Lotus Development Corporation. Her diverse professional experience, combined with a strong academic foundation—holding a B.A. from Boston College and an M.Ed. in Human Resource Management from Cambridge College—has equipped her with a deep and broad understanding of human capital strategy across sectors such as academic medicine, consumer products, banking, and technology.
A dedicated advocate for community service and mentorship, Inez has served on numerous boards, including the Boston Children’s Museum, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and Rogerson Communities. She is the co-founder of Conexion, a leadership network for Hispanic/Latino professionals, and currently serves on the board of the Hispanic Federation of New York. Her commitment to mentoring and supporting young professionals, especially from underserved communities, has earned her several honors, including the 2018 American Dream Award and the 2022 Dr. Levi Watkins Jr. Ideals Award from Johns Hopkins Medicine.
